IT RADIO NETWORK NOW FEATURING AN INTERVIEW WITH MICROMUSE VP RICHARD WHITEHEAD
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA July 21, 2000 -- IT Radio Network, the voice behind eBusiness, is now featuring an interview with Richard Whitehead, VP for Micromuse Inc. (Nasdaq: MUSE). During the interview, Whitehead discussed portals, "vortals", and the future for Micromuse.
During the interview, Whitehead discussed how todays new portal technologies, and their products, benefit the consumer. "The portal technologies that are evolving today offer tremendous opportunities for really improving the delivery of information to individuals," said Whitehead. "Our products have always been significant in the fact that they reduce the training levels required for operators to use the products. So were very interested in the pervasiveness of the portal industry."
According to Whitehead, a new term this is emerging now is that of a "vortal." "The term that I see emerging now is a "vortal", a vertical portal. The big difference is that theres actually not a tremendous amount of commerce going on," said Whitehead. "Were really focused on the delivery of information and not the same transactional commerce thats going on. In other words, people are not buying information."
Whitehead also talked about whats ahead in the future for Micromuse. "Its nice to be at the cutting edge, but its important to make sure that the technology youre deploying real value because at the end of the day thats what the business is all about," said Whitehead. "Were implementing considerable amounts of XML technology into our products right now, so not only does that offer an immediate value, but certainly future proof in the product for any advancements and changes that occur."
The entire interview is available free online in RealAudio (Nasdaq: RNWK) and text at http://www.itradionetwork.com/scripts/whitehead.cfm.
